Curriculum planning
|
Our curriculum is child-oriented and is designed in accordance with the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide 2017” compiled by the Education Bureau. We integrate six learning areas, including: Chinese, Children’s Mathematics, Self and Society, Nature and Living, Physical Fitness and Health, Art and Creativity, and Religious Studies, and provide children real-life learning experience according to their needs and interests in their physical and mental development, gradually broaden children’s learning areas such as knowledge, attitudes and skills.
We will follow the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
|
Learning / Teaching approach and activities
|
Teaching Approaches:
We adopt "Story Approach" to integrate child's learning and let them to learn from “practice” and “play”. In addition, we use Montessori teaching tools and systematic teaching procedures to promote children’s development in “Mathematics”, “Sensory” and “Life skills and self-care”. Moreover, we have different learning corners such as "Challenging zone", "Arts and creativity zone", "Free play zone", "Nature exploring zone" and "Language zone", which our children in different classes can play to learn there together, in order to scaffold their learning.
Language Learning:
A native English teacher and a Mandarin teacher are engaged to provide fun and professional teaching by designing different activities like games, stories, phonics teaching and songs, in order to facilitate children's interest and lay a good foundation in language learning.
Physical Fitness and Health:
A professional fitness tutor comes to our nursery every week to provide fun and playful physical activities for children, to cultivate children's good physique.
|
Assessment of children’s learning experiences
|
We adopt assessment of children's learning by continuous observation. Despite of the ongoing assessment to record and assess their learning performance, we always keep an eye on their daily condition.
To facilitate teachers and parents' communication, we arrange Parent Meeting for parents to know more about children's learning abilities and needs. Also we will distribute the "Children Learning Portfolio" during the meeting which is co-developed by teachers, parents and children.
